Help with Installation Errors

If you are encountering program errors during or after installation, chances are that the download was not completed or was corrupted during the transfer. The best recommendation is to download again from http://www.tracksanta.com/dlist.htm .  If this doesn't solve the problem contact us and we'll help you troubleshoot (of course, the closer it is to Christmas Eve, the more hectic things become!)

Problems Downloading

If you're having trouble downloading please note that there are several alternate sites listed at http://www.tracksanta.com/dlist.htm .

Do I have to be connected to the internet to track Santa?

No.  Tracking Santa runs on your PC without being connected to the internet.

Is this free?

Yes.  It is now!  You can download, install SantaGPS, then visit one of our sponsors for the license code.  No obligation.  What happens when I register?

When you register you immediately receive a license code to use in the SantaGPS 'License & Registration' setup screen. Note that the username is case sensitive. The instructions assume you have already downloaded and installed the SantaGPS software from   http://www.tracksanta.com/dlist.htm   (you may also be interested in a step by step guide at http://www.tracksanta.com/guide.htm). The license information is entered in the "License and Registration" screen from within the SantaGPS program (select setup from the SantaGPS menu).

I lost my code

No problem.  Simply visit one of the sponsors again.

Didn't this used to be called 'Tracking Santa'?

"Tracking Santa" has been renamed to SantaGPS as a result of a trademark dispute initiated by Scrooge, himself.  (Long story, short answer).

Can I play other Christmas songs?

Yes, there are instructions in the SantaGPS help file (pick help from the menu).    You can download more Christmas MIDI files here.

What operating systems does SantaGPS work with?

SantaGPS was written originally for Windows 3.1.  It has survived unscathed through numerous Windows upgrades.  Vista sometimes is picky about the directory where SantaGPS is installed.  If you have trouble with the installer, download the santagps.zip file and extract to the directory of your choice (then click trksanta.exe to start).  Also, in Vista, the Christmas Story doesn't display but you can read it here
